Importance of Safety

Motorcycle Helmets is a protective head gear worn by motorcycle riders. Motorcycle safety is the primary goal of the helmet. The helmet will help protect, prevent or reduce a head injury that can save the riders life. Many helmets provide additional conveniences such as face shield, ear protection and ventilation There are two component that are protective: a thin, hard, outer shell made from polycarbonate plastic, fiberglass or Kevlar and a thick, soft inner liner made of polystyrene or polypropylene "EPS" foam. The purpose of the outer shell is to prevent the head from being punctured by a pointed object that may hit the helmet. It is also to provide structure to the inner liner so it does not disintegrate upon abrasive contact with pavement.. There are many basic types of helmets; Motocross, Modular and Half Helmets to name a few.
Motocross Helmet has visor portions and a extended chin. The visor on The Motocross helmet allows the rider to dip his head providing further protection flying debris during off road riding. It will also block the sun during jumps. The partial open face on the Motocross Helmet gives the rider extra protection with goggles and allows air to flow under during the physical action of riding.
Modular helmets, also know and "flip-helmets" or "convertible" is a hybrid between full face and open face for street use. The chin bar of the Modular helmet has a chin bar pivoted by a special lever to allow access to most of the face, as in an open face helmet. Most modular helmets are designed to be worn in the close position when riding, however some modular helmets are dual certified as full face and open face helmet. Anyone wearing the Modular Helmet will find it convenient to eat, drink or have a conversation without removing the helmet or unfastening the chinstrap, making them popular among many riders.
Half Helmets, also known as Shorty helmets have the same front design as an open face but without a lowered rear I the shape of a bowl. The Half-Helmet provides the minimum coverage allowed by law in the US and some British standards. Half Helmets are made with snaps on the front that can be used for a shield or visor. They have a zip put neck liner that is removable, which is great for warm days to take off and cools days to put on. Because this helmet does not cover the whole face it is not uncommon for riders to wear glasses, shades, or goggles.

Top Motorcycle Conventions, Expos, Rallies, Events and Festivals

All over the country and indeed, all over the world, bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts will be taking to the streets to visit and participate in conventions, expositions, rallies, rides, festivals and other events. Here are some of the largest and most popular motorcycle events in the U.S.
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Pretty much the top event of its kind in the nation, the Sturgis Rally is held in Sturgis, South Dakota during the first week of August. Considered a "classic" rally, due to its inception in 1938, the rally draws motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life, including families as well as die hard bikers. Annual attendance can sometimes reach over 500,000 people.

Americade

This "touring rally" bills itself as the world's largest. It takes place in Lake George Village, New York every year during June. This event attracts over 50,000 people.

Bikes, Blues and BBQ

This is an event held in Fayetteville, Arkansas during September or October each year. This event starts of with a ride into the city from the beautiful Ozarks. The rally began in 2000 but has since grown to become the fastest growing rally in the world, hosting over 350,000 people in 2006 alone. One of the main events at Bikes, Blues and BBQ is a barbecue. This event also benefits charity and is considered to be very family friendly, with many bikers bringing their children.

Daytona Beach Bike Week

This event consists of a rally, street festival, concerts and many parties in Daytona Beach, Florida. Regularly attracting 500,000 people and up each March, this event competes with the Sturgis rally for the title of the largest and most popular motorcycle event during the year. A motorcycle race is a big part of this event, covering a 3.2 mile course that switches back and forth between pavement and beach. The event is held over a period of 10 days and also hosts a classic and custom bike show as well as a clambake and seafood festival.

Laconia Motorcycle Week

This is another rally type event held each June in Laconia, New Hampshire. Laconia Motorcycle Week features a wide variety of events including vintage races, swap meets, tours, fireworks, concerts, bike demos and bike shows.

Custom Motorcycle Television Shows

Not to long ago, you could not turn the channel without running into a custom bike building show. The Discovery channel was filled to the brim with programming like American Chopper starring the Teutul family and Motorcycle Mania hosted by Jesse James. Watching people build overly expensive custom motorcycles had suddenly become cool. Pretty soon, custom bike shops began popping up all over the country opened by starry-eyed entrepreneurs looking to make a quick million overnight by cashing in on America's latest craze.
I personally loved watching American chopper, although more for the family fights than for the finished product. The Teutul family was fun to watch. The dad was always getting ticked off at the eldest son and the misadventures of the younger son, Mikey, were always entertaining. The motorcycles that they put together (or, rather their shop assistants put together) were pretty cool, if not a little over the top and extremely overpriced.
Then American Chopper suddenly disappeared from the Discovery Channel along with all the other bike shows seemingly overnight. It was as if America's obsession with custom-built motorcycles was suddenly replaced with a obsession for wilderness survival shows. Some blame the economy for this sudden shift in programming. As gas prices increase and inflation continues, people seem to tune out. Shows which feature the building of over priced custom motorcycles are then replaced with shows that are about survival.

Many custom motorcycle shops, that had opened overnight due to the new found popularity, also found themselves closing. It was as if the whole thing had been a fad, passing quietly back into a small niche market. Most veteran custom motorcycle builders, however, seem unperturbed by these events. While they acknowledge that the television shows had helped them increase their exposure and t-shirt sales, they also know that the custom motorcycle industry is not some get rich quick scheme that anyone can get into and succeed in.

The true artists and designers who build custom bikes because they love to are not worried by the recent downtrend. They know that they still have a niche within the market, and that the industry will once again pick up when the economy does. They claim that the return of bike building shows will once again make "television cool" in the future.
American Chopper has also survived. It had been moved to the TLC network where it continues to thrive. Other shows are also in the works including American Thunder on the Speed Channel, which features custom bikes. A new upcoming show titled: The Next Great American Builder is currently in the works. This show will feature amateur builders competing for a cash prize.

Christian Women Bikers

On my site, www.skullskidder.com, I have recently had a lot of requests for not only Christian wear but also Womens wear for bikers. I thought that I would combine the two in todays post and give you the information you are all looking for!

Have you seen the "Hairy Biker's Guide to Cooking", where two fat, big, burly and not to forget hairy bikers keep on zooming to the different parts of the country hunting for the culinary tastes of the regions? Meaty and huge on a roaring bike, they absolutely look like bloodhounds sniffing the trail of a chunky meatloaf sizzling somewhere in a distant land, popping its scent into the air.

Well, to tell the truth, you take one look at them and all your appetite would fly out the window! Who could be ever turned on to eat meat patties when two hairy arms are turning and frying them on the pan with bare hands? Anyway, guys on motorbikes tend to make the worst fashion mistakes, thinking that a braid of long hair trailing in the wind behind them as they ride is pretty appealing to any women. Then too, their narrow imagination goes only that far as their common, same old black leather jackets and jeans would allow.

Women on the other hand are much smarter while setting a fashion vista, and they are more appealing to look at than at men. You can wear the latest fashion invention in the biking world: the leather skull cap. This is the most recent rage, and it would look awesome on your shining hair lining your forehead as you peep out from underneath its brim with your dark beautiful eyes.

You just cannot be satisfied with those bloated, thick leather wear that men sport. You have a well sculpted body, and you need to show off your lovely curves, girl! You need something tight, something that will hug your skin and show off the jiggle in your booty that would swerve every man's eyes towards you!

Though leather is the most commonly worn motorcycle gear, there are other fabrics which are becoming quite popular too. All you have to do is choose one of the motorcycle gear shops and go through its collections patiently. Get hold of the ones that you really like. It is not that you have to adhere to the ordinary, common styles always. Be kinky, experiment, and be unique in your gear wear.

Try out different fabrics but make sure they are skin tight. To make the right impact, you need to go about in the right attitude. When you are making your buy, be as different form the others in their ideas; change the ensemble a little bit here and there, and voila! You got yourself a completely new different look.

Boots such as the women's Harley Davidson boots are the other things that will set every man's heart on fire as they see you getting off your bike. Click their eyes to attention as you walk into the scene. Grab yourself a pair of women's Harley Davidson boots.

Wear the perfect leather gloves to complete the biking look. Wear the skull cap if you want to go a tad overboard in looking absolutely sexy!

Bike around safely in the perfect style and fashion. Get yourself the coolest motorcycle gear to tour the country in the true American style.
